CHRISTOPHER STREET GALLERY

See through my perspective of Hamtramck. A place my family has been a part of for more than 100 years. I choose to document day-to-life, the people, and events as I acclimate back to the city my family has since all left. Born on Charest in ‘97, my life began in Hamtramck. My father moved us to a new home in New Baltimore in 2001, being the first of our family to leave. In the next year, my parents would split up and I would spend my weekends in my grandmother's small apartment on Belmont. In 2021, I moved back to the city on my own, with the goal to document the beauty and culture of the city.
**Christopher Street Gallery is a community-centered art space located in Hamtramck, Michigan dedicated to showcasing contemporary work by local and regional artists. The gallery features rotating exhibitions, including solo and group shows, and serves as a welcoming platform for creative exchange, cultural expression, and neighborhood engagement. Rooted in Hamtramck’s diverse arts scene, Christopher Street Gallery supports artists at all stages while fostering meaningful connections between art and community. Operating under the umbrella of the Passenger Recovery Community Center
(PRCC), the gallery champions local artists while providing a safe, art-centric space for
those in recovery.
Tim’s vision for CSG is inextricably linked with his personal history and his dedication to
the LGBTQ+ community. "The name resonated with me when I lived in Berlin.
Christopher Street Days held a special place in my heart!" he explains, referring to the
European LGBTQ+ celebration that commemorates the Christopher Street Riots
(Stonewall). This powerful homage establishes the gallery's foundation in inclusivity and
historical significance. **
